
Preparing for the new year can be overwhelming. On our social feeds, in our communities, our workplaces, fitness studios and even our holiday parties, we are asked about new year visions, intentions, resolutions, and strategies. We are ambushed from Thanksgiving through January 1st, with endless chatter of vision boards, words of the year, goal setting, and strategic plan development at the office.
This year, I have gone through the exercise of all of the above, only to realize, there is only one key question we need to honestly answer to unlock our highest potential and set ourselves up for success in the new year. Answering this one question will inform everything else from our 2024 vision, to our strategy and the concrete actions to take to achieve our goals.
“What’s the difference that will make the difference?”
As you think about where you are now, and where you wish to be by the end of 2024, what is the one big thing that if focused on will change everything and unlock the life you imagine?
For me, it is energy. In 2024, I will consistently harness my energy.
I know this is the difference that will make the greatest difference, casting the widest impact in my life.
With energy, I will be able to achieve my fitness goals. With energy, I will be able to write and publish my book, my guided meditation series, my new edition of the quarterly 90-day planner. With energy, I will be able to tap into my creativity and share my gifts with the world. With energy, I will show up as my brightest, best self and cast light and love in all I do. With energy, I will be present, savor life in each moment, and not sit on the sidelines of this one great life I have been given. With energy, I will feel good, enjoy great health, fuel my mind body and soul and make better decisions. With energy, I can have, do, be whatever I desire. With energy I will be present and connected to my team and my colleagues. With energy, I will build a highly engaged and high performing team. With energy I will solve problems with enthusiasm and vigor. With energy I will connect, learn, grow, take risks, and aim high. Energy in all that I do will unlock the best version of me and allow me to manifest the best year yet.
Once you’ve defined the one big thing that will make the difference, set the strategy by defining the key steps you need to take to make the vision a reality.
Define the overarching pillars to focus on and then break those down into actions, commitments and non-negotiables.
For me, energy will come through the following pillars & simple action steps:
Sleep & Rest– I will set a consistent sleep & wake time 7 days/week. I will define 1 day of rest and disconnect weekly.
Nutrition– I will enroll in continuing education courses at IIN, studying health, nutrition and wellness. I will integrate more leafy greens in my diet and eliminate excess sugar.
Moving my body – I will schedule 30 minutes per day to move my body through Yoga, Pilates, Peloton and /or walking. I will start weight training with personal trainer by Feb 15th.
Wellness Rituals – I will use the sauna 3x week, detox through salt baths weekly, schedule quarterly massages and facials and drink daily green juice and morning wellness shots. I will engage in daily gratitude using my 5-minute journal.
Breathwork & Meditation – I will practice 15-30 minutes of Kundalini each morning with at least 1 60-minute session per week. I will publish my guided meditation series to help others learn the profound difference meditation makes in lowering anxiety and creating peace and wellbeing.
Creating Joy – what gets scheduled gets done! I will plan and schedule quarterly vacations, weekend social activities, coaching sessions, writing sessions and all the things that light me up!
To make sure you can move forward to make the difference, it is essential to confront & remove the barriers that prevent you from living this one thing today.
For me, I will commit to setting boundaries, proactively managing my time and resources, and following the Elevate 888 Method of time and life management. I commit to living in joy and purpose, with adequate 8 hours of sleep every night, scheduling joy, and allowing work to flow, in alignment with a very deep sense of purpose.
